We invite you to take part in this 9 hours excursion which is conducted on comfortable vehicles equipped with air conditioning, accompanied by qualified guides. We will visit Lake Sevan - one of the largest freshwater high- altitude lakes in the world, Dilijan with it's famous Sharamberyan Street, and the jewels of Tavush Region Haghartsin and Goshavank Monasteries. Hotel pickup and drop-off is included.

Take trip to Lake Sevan; the largest lake in Armenia and the Caucasus region. It is one of the largest freshwater high- altitude lakes in the world. Lake Sevan is situated in the central part of the Republic of Armenia, in the Gegharkunik Province, at the altitude of 1,900 m (6,200 ft) above sea level. The total surface area of its basin is about 5,000 km2 (1,900 sq mi), the lake itself is 940 km2, and the volume is 34.0 billion m3. It is fed by 28 rivers and streams.

At the northwestern shore of Lake Sevan on a peninsula you will see a monastic complex Sevanavank. Initially the monastery was built at the southern shore of a small island. After the artificial draining of Lake Sevan the water level fell about 20 metres, and the island transformed into a peninsula. The monastery of Sevanavank was founded in 874 by Princess Mariam, the daughter of Ashot I(who became a king a decade later).

Heading to Dilijan. Mild climate and gorgeous nature made this town well known as a beautiful resort. Passing by the city, visit the famous Sharamberyan Street. Dilijan usually is called Little Switzerland by the locals.

Haghartsin Monastery was built between the 10th and 13th centuries (in the 12th under Khachatur of Taron); much of it under the patronage of the Bagratuni Dynasty.

Then we will continue our tour to Goshavank which is a 12th- or 13th-century Armenian monastery located in the village of Gosh. Goshavank was erected in the place of an older monastery once known as Nor Getik, which had been destroyed by an earthquake in 1188. Mkhitar Gosh, a statesman, scientist and author of numerous fables and parables as well as the first criminal code, took part in the rebuilding of the monastery. At Goshavank, Mkhitar Gosh founded a school. One of its alumni, an Armenian scientist by the name of Kirakos Gandzaketsi wrote The History of Armenia. The architect Mkhitar the Carpenter and his disciple Hovhannes also took an active part in the building of the monastery. The complex was later renamed Goshavank and the village named Gosh in his honor.

The monastery of Haghartsin, together with Goshavank, may become part of a natural site based on the state protected area of Dilijan National Park, an important forest in north-eastern Armenia.

We invite you to take part in this 7 hours excursion which is conducted on comfortable vehicles equipped with air conditioning, accompanied by qualified guides. We will visit the most famous pilgrimage site of the Armenian Apostolic Church - Monastery Khor Virap, will participate in degustation of wine in Areni Winery and in the end of the trip will have chance to be in the monastic complex of Noravank. Hotel pickup and drop-off is included.

Take trip to Khor Virap Monastery (IV-XVIII th cc.). This monastery is very prominent because of its history: Gregory the Illuminator, who introduced Christianity to Armenia, has been imprisoned here about 13 years as at that time there was a prison in the place of the monastery. Here we can enjoy the spectacular view of the sacred Ararat Mountain - an immortal symbol of Armenia.

After this we will continue our tour to Areni village where located T'rchunneri (Birds) Cave and Areni Winery. The excavation is located above the Arpa River, inside a Karst Cavern made from tens of thousands of years of mineral water dripping into limestone crevices; it consists of three rooms or halls, the first two of which are connected by passageways. There are also niches and “basement” and “attic” floors opening upward and downward from the first room. The total area of the cave is about 500 square meters. 2007-2008 excavations of the first room and surrounding area uncovered layers of material culture dating to different periods of the Copper (chalcolithic) and Stone Ages. Based on the results of radiocarbon examination, samples taken from these layers (bone fragments, coal, fabric pieces, seeds and other organic residues) are traced back to late 5th- early 4th millennium BCE.

At the Areni winery you will try different sorts of wine and will have chance to buy souvenirs and wine.

Heading to Noravank, a monastery of XIII century, situated among amazing sheer rocks on the bench of a twisty gorge. The monastic complex includes the church of S. Karapet, S. Grigor chapel with a vaulted hall, and the church of S. Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God). Ruins of various civil buildings and khachkars are found both inside and outside of the compound walls. Noravank was the residence of the Orbelian princes. The architect Siranes and the miniature painter and sculptor Momik worked here in the latter part of the thirteenth and early fourteenth century. This is the only monastery where we may find a unique sculpture of Father God. The monastery is best known for its two-storey Surb Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God) church, which grants access to the second floor by way of a narrow stone-made staircase jutting out from the face of building.

We will visit a medieval monastery Geghard listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Pagan Temple of Garni, The Arch of Charents with a breathtaking view to Mount Ararat, as well as we will participate in Lavash baking ceremony and degustation. Hotel pickup and drop-off is included.

Take trip to Geghard a medieval monastery being partially carved out of the adjacent mountain, surrounded by cliffs. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While the main chapel was built in 1215, the monastery complex was founded in the 4th century by Gregory the Illuminator at the site of a sacred spring inside a cave. The whole complex is awash with detailed sculptures, cliffside monks’ cells, and many striking stone crosses (khachkars), elaborately etched into the rock faces.

On the road to Geghard Monastery you will see The Arch of Charents which was erected in 1957 and named in honour of Armenian poet Eghishe Charents, who wrote the best poem, dedicated to Armenia, full of true love and pride. From the Charents Arch opens a breathtaking view to Ararat, probably the most stunning view of the Biblical mountain.

We will continue our trip to Garni. This Pagan Temple was built in the Ist century AD. It is the only temple that remains from the Pagan times in Armenia. It was devoted to the God of the Sun Mihr, and was a gift to the queen. In 1679 it was destroyed by earthquake. In the 1975 the Temple was restored.

Lavash(Armenian Bread) baking ceremony and degustation.

This traditional flatbread is made with flour, water, and salt, and its thickness depends on how thinly it’s rolled out. Toasted sesame or poppy seeds — or both — are sometimes then sprinkled on top before baking. Traditionally, the dough is rolled out flat and slapped against the hot walls of a clay oven where it then cooks. Watch a demonstration on how lavash is made and take the opportunity to try your hand at preparing and baking it. Then, once it’s ready, enjoy a tasting: savoring it with local cheese and green vegetables.
